Genuary#13: Self Portrait WIP

I approached this year's edition of Genuary as an opportunity to learn and explore new things. Well, new to me that's to say. Things I had been wanting to play with, but never got around to.

I guess that set the scene for me to try out some face detection methods when I thought about the prompt for January 13: Self portrait.

Turns out that's not a trivial thing to do within OPENRNDR. There's an orml-facemesh extension, but this hasn't been maintained for a couple of years so I ended up using JavaCV. That's a Java wrapper around the good old OpenCV. Here I'm using two classical Machine Learning algorithms. The CascadeClassifier to get the bounding boxes and then the Facemark LBF to find more detailed face landmarks.

I'm not entirely sure where I'm going with this quite yet, but I've got some ideas... Let's see how those turn out...
